Tell
Me about Your Fish
By Jerri
Phillips
Once again, there is
joy and anticipation in Anna's world. An
emptiness has been filled, and life is
good again.
Anna had asked for fish for a long time,
and when she was given a large tank for
Christmas, she talked incessantly about
her soon-to-be fish. We filled her tank
with lovely aquatic creatures as
promised...and they died. Undaunted, she
simply said, "Then well get
some more," and so we did.
Today, we went to pick up some fish at
the local pet store. She watched with
wide-eyes as Danny picked out the fish
and put them in plastic bags for us. She
then carefully took the bags and handed
them to me so she wouldn't drop them.
Since she was almost bouncy with
excitement, dropping them was a real
possibility.
When we arrived home, we saw our neighbor
leaving for work, and Anna had to run
tell him about her new fish. Her
enthusiasm was contagious, and he became
excited too. Before Rob could even closed
the door behind him, she was shouting,
"Daddy, we got more fish
today!" She told anyone who would
listen that she had fish.
That's what you do when you are excited.
You tell everyone.
Jesus commanded His disciples to go into
all the earth and tell everyone about Him
and salvation. That sounds like a pretty
big job, unless you are excited. If you
are excited, you'll be seeking people to
tell. Anyone who will stop long enough to
listen, and some who won't, will all hear
your great news, and one person ignoring
you will not stop you from talking. You
won't even wonder if people are
interested. Like Anna, you'll just find
it impossible to keep quiet. And who
knows? Maybe more people would be
interested in what we have to say if we
were as excited about Jesus as Anna is
her fish.
