In
1998, our church was a baby. We didn't
have our own facilities, so we were
meeting in a movie theater. While the
theater was a blessing to us, there were
some drawbacks.
For me, one of the greatest drawbacks was
only meeting on Sunday morning. Our
pastor is an anointed man, and the
sermons were powerful and uplifting.
However, by Tuesday or Wednesday, I was
waning. I needed a spiritual boost to
carry me to the next sermon.
The Bible says that no temptation has
seized me except that which is common to
man (1 Corinthians 10:13), and I have
lived long enough to know that my trials
tend to be pretty common to others as
well. Therefore, I figured other people
might need a boost as well.
Perhaps others needed a supernatural
snack to "munch" on to get them
through the week until they could feast
on Sunday. So, I started writing some
short articles and sending them out as
Jerri's Weekly Munchies. For the next
year, I tried to consistently send an
article out on Wednesday or, if I was
slow, Thursday. Near the end of the year,
Jerri's Weekly Munchies changed names to
Jerri's Munchies.
In July 1999, I took a sabbatical. We
were headed to Italy for four months, and
I was not going to have access to my
account to send my articles. The trip was
cut short (four months to eight days) due
to pregnancy complications. The
complications persisted, which caused my
four month sabbatical to last through the
entire pregnancy and into postpartum.
In July 2000, with prompting from several
dear friends, I began sending out Jerri's
Munchies again.
As the name implies, Jerri's Munchies are
not meant to be a spiritual meal, but
rather a power bar to tied you over until
you can fill up at church. I strongly
believe in the gathering of the body in
order to strengthen and encourage one
another.
However, if you need a boost, a word of
encouragement, or something to chew on in
the middle of the week, I pray you find
your needs met here. I pray that you are
blessed by what you read. I also pray
that the Holy Spirit works through these
writings to bring healing and wholeness
at your point of need.
God bless you and keep you!
